An inside look at Skomvær Fir and the work: Sun Passage
Journal Entry: 06/20/2017 Landlocked and suffused; these eternal mid summer rays peck my every move. The suns energy is ceaseless even at 92.6 million miles...With no escape, I've become infused to light seeing myself only as a shadow. Under surveillance of the retired lighthouse, I've begun to scavenge objects...to engineer a light passage. -A sustainable future is just through that door... |
About the site: Skomvær Fir (Lighthouse Island) is a part of the Røst archipelago in the Lofoten Islands of Norway. Despite its situational parallel with the Artic Circle, a warm water beltway yields freezing temperatures even under the endless dark nights of winter. Far out to sea, these planted bits of land are promised breeding grounds attracting species near and far from air to sea. For 30 days I was provided an unforgettable creative sanctuary thanks to Røst Air. |
